The man was reading from the prophet Isaiah: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter … In his humiliation, justice was denied to him … For his life is taken from the earth” (Acts 8:32-33). I had no doubts about whether this Ethiopian was a Gentile until I noticed that Luke didn't show Philip to have given any indication of hesitation to baptize this man.
