WebMay 20, 2016 · 05-21-2016, 12:39 AM. Your idea is a common one, but unfortunately in application it's not terribly effective. First, the typical mill-drill does already have a sort of "key" in the form of a rack, used for raising and lowering the head. The rack is generally free to rotate with the head, so it seems logical to simply pin the rack to the column.
